What we are looking for:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of heavy machinery, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a dedication to delivering high-quality workmanship. The Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety on the job site.
Duties Include:
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on heavy-duty equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and cranes.
- Perform regular maintenance and repair work, including oil changes, filter replacements, and hydraulic system repairs.
- Conduct thorough inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential problems and maintain equipment reliability.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess machinery performance and align with industry standards.
- Collaborate with equipment operators and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient repairs, facilitating minimal downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, documenting parts used and time spent.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe work environment in all maintenance activities.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies to improve knowledge and skills in heavy equipment mechanics.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices, sharing expertise and techniques to foster professional development within the team.
- Respond to emergencies and breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic, with a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Certification from an accredited trade school or technical college is a plus.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools relevant to heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record;
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks. Comfortable working in various weather conditions and on uneven surfaces. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
